MEN’S and WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

Description

The Athletic Department at Carolina Christian College is actively seeking candidates for the position of Head Coach for Men’s/ Women’s Cross Country.  Since this is a new sport to the Centurion Athletic Department, this coach will have the opportunity to build the from the ground up.   This position demands an individual who is not only passionate about the sport but also dedicated to cultivating student-athletes’ skills, fostering teamwork, and encouraging personal growth. The Cross-Country Coach will lead training sessions, develop race strategies, and provide ongoing assessment of individual and team performance. Collaboration with other coaching staff, athletic department personnel, and parents is essential to create a supportive environment where each athlete can thrive. The coach will also be responsible for recruiting new team members, ensuring a diverse and competitive roster. This position involves organizing and attending meets, managing budgets, fundraising, and maintaining equipment and facilities necessary for training. The Cross-Country Coach will not only guide the team in their athletic pursuits but will also serve as a mentor, contributing positively to their educational journey.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement training programs for cross country athletes
  • Conduct regular practice sessions and provide individualized feedback to runners
  • Organize and attend cross country meets and competitions
  • Monitor athlete performance, health, and wellness throughout the season
  • Collaborate with athletic department staff to meet program objectives
  • Manage the team budget, including travel arrangements and equipment procurement
  • Recruit and evaluate potential student-athletes for the cross-country team
  • Manage and enforce requirements of our New Balance contract.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education, Sports Management, or a related field
  • Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level
  • Strong knowledge of cross-country training techniques and strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes
  • First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain

    Carolina Christian College seeks a committed, visionary, and faith-centered Head Women’s Basketball Coach to lead the Lady Centurions basketball program in NCCAA Division II competition. The Head Coach is responsible for building a competitive, Christ-centered program that promotes academic excellence, spiritual growth, and athletic success. This position requires strong leadership in coaching, recruitment, budgeting, fundraising, mentoring, and team travel.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Coaching & Program Leadership

    • Plan, organize, and lead all aspects of the women’s basketball program, including practices, game preparation, and in-game coaching

    • Develop and implement a competitive basketball philosophy consistent with the mission and values of Carolina Christian College

    • Foster a positive team culture emphasizing discipline, sportsmanship, accountability, and Christian character

    • Supervise assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and team support staff (if applicable)

    Recruitment & Player Development

    • Recruit, evaluate, and retain qualified student-athletes who meet academic, athletic, and spiritual standards of the institution and NCCAA

    • Monitor academic progress and support student-athlete success toward degree completion

    • Mentor student-athletes in leadership, life skills, faith development, and personal growth

    • Ensure compliance with NCCAA, conference, and institutional eligibility rules

    Budget Management & Fundraising

    • Develop, manage, and operate within an approved annual program budget

    • Track and monitor expenses related to travel, equipment, uniforms, recruiting, and operations

    • Participate in and lead fundraising initiatives to support program needs

    • Cultivate relationships with donors, alumni, churches, and community partners to enhance program sustainability

    Scheduling & Travel

    • Assist in developing competitive game schedules in coordination with the Athletic Director

    • Organize and manage all team travel, including transportation, lodging, meals, and itineraries

    • Ensure safe, organized, and cost-effective travel arrangements

    • Represent the college with professionalism during home and away competitions

    Administration & Compliance

    • Maintain accurate records for recruiting, budgets, and team operations

    • Ensure full compliance with NCCAA, conference, and institutional policies

    • Attend departmental meetings, coaches’ meetings, and required professional development activities

    • Support departmental goals and contribute to the overall mission of the athletic program

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred)

    • Previous coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or comparable competitive level

    • Strong knowledge of women’s basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development

    • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead young women in a Christian environment

    • Experience working with budgets, fundraising, and program administration

    • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including evenings and weekends

    • Commitment to the Christian mission and values of Carolina Christian College

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Collegiate head or assistant coaching experience

    • Recruiting experience within NCCAA, NAIA, or NCAA environments
