MEN’S and WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Description
The Athletic Department at Carolina Christian College is actively seeking candidates for the position of Head Coach for Men’s/ Women’s Cross Country. Since this is a new sport to the Centurion Athletic Department, this coach will have the opportunity to build the from the ground up. This position demands an individual who is not only passionate about the sport but also dedicated to cultivating student-athletes’ skills, fostering teamwork, and encouraging personal growth. The Cross-Country Coach will lead training sessions, develop race strategies, and provide ongoing assessment of individual and team performance. Collaboration with other coaching staff, athletic department personnel, and parents is essential to create a supportive environment where each athlete can thrive. The coach will also be responsible for recruiting new team members, ensuring a diverse and competitive roster. This position involves organizing and attending meets, managing budgets, fundraising, and maintaining equipment and facilities necessary for training. The Cross-Country Coach will not only guide the team in their athletic pursuits but will also serve as a mentor, contributing positively to their educational journey.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement training programs for cross country athletes
- Conduct regular practice sessions and provide individualized feedback to runners
- Organize and attend cross country meets and competitions
- Monitor athlete performance, health, and wellness throughout the season
- Collaborate with athletic department staff to meet program objectives
- Manage the team budget, including travel arrangements and equipment procurement
- Recruit and evaluate potential student-athletes for the cross-country team
- Manage and enforce requirements of our New Balance contract.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in physical education, Sports Management, or a related field
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level
- Strong knowledge of cross-country training techniques and strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes
- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain

The Head Coach is responsible for building a competitive, Christ-centered program that promotes academic excellence, spiritual growth, and athletic success. This position requires strong leadership in coaching, recruitment, budgeting, fundraising, mentoring, and team travel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coaching & Program Leadership

Plan, organize, and lead all aspects of the women’s basketball program, including practices, game preparation, and in-game coaching
