About
Welcome to Aubrey L. Payne Library at Carolina Christian College!
Named in honor of Aubrey L. Payne, former professor and trustee of the college, the Library seeks “to provide the library resources necessary to support the college curriculum and to provide resources that students, faculty, and staff need to serve effectively in their ministries and to grow spiritually.” Located on the bottom floor of the college’s main building, the Library offers services for about 25 hours each week during the academic year. If a student needs to use the Library at a time when it is not open, the student may contact the librarian for an appointment to use the Library after hours.
The Library specializes in the areas of Biblical studies, theology, and Christian ministries (including Christian education and pastoral care). We also maintain a special collection of African American History and Literature titles. Currently the Library owns about 9,000 books and periodicals. Books are organized according the Library of Congress classification system. Library holdings may be accessed on any computer in the computer lab or around the world at the college website www.carolina.edu .
In addition to print books and periodicals, the Library also maintains a number of e-books and periodicals in electronic form.
The Library offers interlibrary loan for materials that are not available in the Library. Materials for research and study are borrowed from other libraries for use by patrons. Materials are obtained from libraries in Winston-Salem (WSSU, Wake Forest, Piedmont International University) and from hundreds of libraries through OCLC WorldCat. Students are invited to take advantage of this free service.
